Important Information for Students

EIS-FELA are planning to take part in strike action on Wednesday 24 April and Monday 29 April 2024, as part of an ongoing national dispute.

All campuses will remain open.  Students should contact their lecturers to check if their classes are running on these dates.

Summary of arrangements for the days of action:
  • All full-time and evening provision will be cancelled, unless alternative arrangements are put in place by individual departments - as above, students should contact their lecturer to check if their class is running or not
  • Employers are being contacted directly regarding individual arrangements for their apprentices - your Apprenticeship Officer will also be able to help with any queries
  • Schools are being contacted directly to advise on classes going ahead or cancelled
  • Interviews linked to 2024/25 recruitment will go ahead unless otherwise advised
  • Exams will go ahead
  • Commercial training courses will go ahead
  • Learning Resource Centres, refectories and gyms will remain open but may have a limited service
  • Gallery restaurant will be open
  • Our salons will be closed
Please note that no students will be disadvantaged in regards to their bursary, childcare or EMA funding as a consequence of the industrial action.

Measures are being put in place in regards to fire wardens, first aiders, and safeguarding.

Action Short of Strike Action

EIS-members are also being asked to undertake a programme of action short of strike from Monday 12 February 2024 until Monday 15 July 2024.  This means those participating:
  • May not undertake any goodwill activities above and beyond existing duties, such as overtime
  • May not share exam or assessment results with the College or any other organisation
We are taking steps to minimise the impact on our students.
