Industrial Action - Information for Students

A total of 86 out of our 300 academic staff (just under 29%) took part in recent industrial action.  Where possible, classes ran as normal.

At present we expect that industrial action by both EIS-FELA National and EIS-FELA will go ahead as planned next week.   The dates for planned action include Tuesday 30 March, Wednesday 31 March and Thursday 1 April 2021.

You can view the full list of planned days of action here.

Departments will be in touch with students directly to advise if their classes are cancelled or going ahead.

The following will also go ahead as planned:

  • The exam programme
  • Commercial training courses

Please note that no students will be disadvantaged in regards to their bursary, childcare or EMA funding as a consequence of the industrial action.

Please keep checking this webpage for updates.

Our aim is to minimise the impact on learning and teaching, wherever possible, and continue to deliver the best possible learning experiences for our students whilst a resolution is found for this dispute.  We recognise that some of you may already be facing challenges due to the ongoing lockdown restrictions, however, we would like to reassure you that our key priority is to ensure you can complete your qualification and move forward onto your next steps.

All student support teams will also continue to be available throughout the period of industrial action. Key contacts include:
