Industrial Action - Information for Students

A number of lecturers at Forth Valley College are planning to take part in national industrial action over the coming weeks in regards to a sector wide dispute over pay and conditions.

The EIS Union have proposed a series of dates for industrial action – the most immediate is Thursday 27 April 2017.

Following a review of options and in the best interest of students and applicants, our Senior Management Team has decided not to hold classes or interviews, including evening classes* on the first planned day of action – Thursday 27 April 2017. However all our campuses will remain open and students are welcome to use our facilities for self-directed study.

Please note that in addition to our campuses remaining open, the following will also go ahead as planned:

• The exam programme
• Our commercial salons
• The Gallery Restaurant
• The “Fantasy at Your Fingertips” event at the Alloa Campus

Furthermore, no students will be disadvantaged in regards to either their bursary or EMA funding as a consequence of the industrial action.

We will continue to review the situation for further dates of proposed action and updates will be issued to you in due course.

As always our focus is on ensuring we continue to deliver the highest quality learning experiences for our students whilst a resolution is found for this dispute.

If you have any further questions, please contact your Curriculum Manager or the front of house team at any college campus.
