Learning Resource Centres
Our Learning Resource Centres (LRC) provide access to modern, well-resourced facilities at our three main campuses in Alloa, Falkirk and Stirling. Our LRCs are vibrant hubs of learning activity where you can work quietly, make use of our facilities and access resources and support.
Through our LRC's you can access;
- books, e-books, journals and online databases
- Pre-bookable PCs
- WiFi & space to use your own laptop or tablet
- Space for group work
- One to one support for those with additional support needs
- Binding and laminating services
- Stationery items for sale
- Free flexible learning courses for full- time students
- Study skills resources and workshops
- Scanners, printers and photocopiers (Students are entitled to a free £10 print allowance)
Ask the LRC Team
Due to social distancing measures currently in place across all our campuses, the Learning Resource Centre Team have created a channel on Microsoft Teams to provide staff and students with quick and easy access to advice and support such as:
• Booking a PC
• Requesting books and e-books
• Flexible learning queries
• General advice, such as resetting your password, etc.
Students and staff can access this area by clicking ‘Join a team’ in Microsoft Teams and adding the following code - blae5o6.
They will then be able to contact the team directly using the chat facility on Teams (available between 8.45am-4.45pm, Monday to Friday)

Workshops
We offer a number of workshops that teaching departments can book for delivery to specific groups. These workshops are also delivered through our LRCs. We currently offer workshops on:

- CV and Cover Letter Building
- eBooks
- Research Skills
- Referencing
One-to-One Support
If you are accessing support from a Learning Support Advisor (LSA), you may be referred to one of our Learning Skills and Resource Assistants (LSRA) who work in our Learning Resource Centres. Our LSRAs can help you with a range of areas:
- Study support in one-to-one or small groups
- Training in the use of specialist equipment or assistive technology/software to help with reading, writing and study skills
- Assessment and exam preparation and advice
- Assessment arrangements e.g. invigilate when you need extra time or scribe for you
- Proof-reading and training on how to proof-read your own work
This service is currently only available to students with additional support needs but we will be looking to expand this service over the next year to open it up to the wider student population. If you feel that you could benefit from this type of support, please get in touch with the team.
