Business lecturer Neil McLeod is using his cycling experience to help inspire a group of 14 Forth Valley College staff to complete the upcoming Pedal for Scotland event.
Starting at Glasgow Green on Sunday 11 September, the event will see cyclists of all abilities complete the 46 mile trip to Ingliston near Edinburgh, and there has been a great response from FVC staff.
Neil (42), who has been cycling since he was five-years-old, regularly cycles between each campus and on top of that is out on his bike between 11-12 hours a week. He is a member of Stirling Bike Club and has special qualifications that enable him to lead groups of cyclists out on the roads.
He said: “All the group have been in training and have been doing really well. We have everyone from triathletes to beginners taking part, but one thing is for sure… we will start as a group and we will finish as a group.
“We hope to raise more awareness of cycling in the College and help people to realise that they can cycle at any age and with any level of fitness. This all links in with the College’s Health and Wellbeing campaign, where we hope more staff will get out and use the facilities more. Hopefully it might lead to us setting up a college cycling club to get people out on their bikes.”
