Senior managers from a prominent engineering company have signed up to study for a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) certificate at Forth Valley College.

The group of ten ID Systems UK staff – which included project engineers, project managers, programme managers and the resource manager – from their Grangemouth and Glasgow sites began their qualification on Monday 18 January.

The firm undertake various engineering contracts for major clients, and due to continuing expansion they wish their managers and trainee managers to achieve a nationally recognised management qualification in partnership with their local college. The staff will be studying subjects such as Stakeholder and Quality needs, Undertaking a Management Project and Leadership skills.

FVC Business Lecturer Jane McGuckin, who is Programme Director for CMI qualifications said:

“A CMI candidate from ID Systems asked me to meet with his senior manager. I presented the course to him and he in turn asked me to come back and present to the managing director and senior accountant.

“The head of our Business Department Bob Armstrong and myself, worked with our Finance Department and came up with an offer which the company accepted. ID Systems now intend to put all their employees through the CMI Certificate in Management & Leadership, which we are absolutely delighted about.”
