One of Forth Valley College’s best known members of staff – George Coutts – has retired after 32 years working at the Falkirk Campus.

Facilities Assistant George (65) from Falkirk, worked at the old Middlefield and Falkirk Campuses, before spending the last two years at the new Campus. He helped everyone ‘Fixit’ for the last time on Friday 11 February.

He said: “I remember I was late on my first day – January 2, 1990 – as that day the buses were on a Sunday Service from the New Year holiday and I had to walk to work, but I still managed to get here in time for breakfast. I’ve enjoyed most of my time here and there are some people I am going to really miss. As for retirement, I am going on holiday as soon as I can and I am going to enjoy myself!”

Steven Mabbott, Facilities Team Leader revealed that along with himself, George and close colleague Pat Hickey, the total service of these Facilities experts tallies 86 years!

Stevie, said: “George will be sadly missed, we are going to need a few to replace him!”

In-keeping with Fixit team’s renowned good humour, Pat added: “I am definitely going to miss my old mucker… what was his name again?”
