The DPS Group, based in Glenrothes, currently has 92 employees, but is hoping to recruit more Modern Apprentices (MAs) to be trained at Forth Valley College soon.
DPS Group has projects globally and with even further reaching projects to the planets and counts some of the best known brand names in food and beverage, aircraft and manufacturing such as Jammie Dodgers, Pepsi and Johnnie Walker. With Diageo, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh Airport and Boeing as some of its biggest and interesting clients.
The DPS Group is an Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation provider – one of the few companies covering this skill set in the UK. Working across a range of different sectors including, power, paper, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, petrochemical and food & beverage, one of their main focuses is producing and investing in engineers of the future, and showing them the different avenues available for different engineers.
DPS Group HSEQ Manager, Victoria Coates, said: “There is a current skills gap in the industry which we are looking to fill and DPS is heavily investing in apprentices in order to help with this. Due to the industry changing, the careers of electrical, automation and instrument technicians of the future will look different to how they do now, and the opportunities DPS can provide them with can prepare them for this.
“There are many benefits to becoming an MA, being able to earn while you learn is a great opportunity. You will be able to gain hands-on, practical experience with great pathway options and career progression. Furthermore, DPS organise an Industrial Internet Of Things project for our 2nd-4th year apprentices, which gives them an opportunity to develop and share their knowledge of the future, show innovation, and then present their projects to our board which is a great way to learn about what their career will involve in the future.”
