Long term friends of the college the Alloa Musical Players are treading the boards again in their latest production ‘Urinetown; The musical’.
The unusually named show, a satirical comedy musical that satirises the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and municipal politics, whilst also parodying musicals such as The Threepenny Opera, The Cradle Will Rock and Les Misérables, opens on Tuesday 5 March in Alloa Town Hall.
This year’s performance, building on the success of previous year’s productions such as 9 to 5 and Evita, showcases the talent of some of our current and past students coming from a range of courses and campuses including Hospitality and Business. FVC Make-up Artistry students will also be doing the make-up.
Rob McDermott FVC’s Quality Manager in Learning and Quality has been a stalwart of the Alloa Musical Players for many years and is joined this year in the cast with Leanne and Richard Cook (all pictured here). Leanne is doing an HND in Admin and Information Technology and Richard is studying a City and Guilds Professional Cookery course at the College.
Rob, said: “It’s great to see, year after year, talented students being involved in a community based organisation that brings lots of pleasure to a host of people from Clackmannanshire, Stirling and beyond. I’m sure the skills they develop within the college add to the things that they bring to the Musical Players and there is no doubt that the skills that they develop as part of a show like this, will hold them in good stead for progressing in to employment or further study.”
