Two Professional Cookery students are teaming up to enter the Knor Student Chef of the Year competition.

Kerry Hall (19) from Larbert (Level 3) and Ailis Frize (17) from Dunblane (Level 2) are currently preparing – under the watchful eye of FVC Chef Lecturer Mandy Fraser – for the event, to be held at the City of Glasgow College on Thursday 21 March.

The competition tag team will see Ailis use her skills to prepare a chicken and various vegetables, before Kerry will takeover and cook the main course. Then Ailis will complete the menu with a dessert.

Kerry and Ailis had to submit their written application entry along with photographs and were chosen to be one of the eight competing teams from 24 Colleges across Scotland.

Kerry said: “I am looking forward to competing, but have to admit I am a wee bit nervous. But the experience is going to be great.”

Ailis, added: “I have never done anything like this before, so I am quite excited to see what it is like.”

Mandy, said: “The competition will benefit them without a shadow of a doubt. It will help improve their confidence and show them what they are capable of if they work hard.”
