Anne Fowler’s 40 years of dedicated service to the college was honoured recently with a ‘Surprise, Surprise’ style presentation.
Believing she was sitting in on a regular afternoon team meeting in the Falkirk Campus Board Room, Anne was surprised when FVC senior management and around 40 colleagues entered with a cake, balloons and various gifts on Tuesday 16 August.
Anne, FVC’s Curriculum and Quality Advisor, said:
“I am absolutely speechless. This was totally unexpected. I will never come to another Team Meeting without feeling dread and fear something is going to happen! Thanks to you all. This has been a total surprise."
Anne was delighted to receive a selection of personalised gifts from colleagues which summed up her wonderful service at the College over the years and was also presented with a scroll containing a submission for Anne to be chosen as a SQA Champion for this year.
FVC Principal Dr Ken Thomson, said:
“Anne started here in 1976 and one of the organisers of this surprise dedication was Irene Kane – who I understand was taught by Anne at one point!
“All I would like to say is a massive thank you to Anne for all her years of brilliant service. She is one of the most modest people I have ever come across and I look upon her as the matriarch of the organisation."
