Two groups of HND Coaching and Development Sport students have been honing their skills by working with a local community group and some primary school pupils.
On a Monday and a Tuesday afternoon the students have been taking sports workshops in the Falkirk gym hall to coach the ‘Get Out Get Active’ group of adults run by Forth Valley Disability Sport (FVDS) and also the ‘Terrific Ten’ a group of autistic pupils from Victoria Primary School.
The valuable experience gained – where they run physical activity sessions based around a fun social environment - will help the students work towards their Sports Development: An Introduction & Inclusive Sports Provision unit.
Lecturer Iain Milligan, said: “Both groups of students have gained valuable experience working with people with disabilities, developing and delivering fun activity sessions. The students have been a great credit to the college and themselves. Hopefully the partnerships with Forth Valley Disability Sport and Victoria Primary School will continue to grow and allow future students the same opportunities.”
