More than 100 Forth Valley College students have used their creativity to mark Remembrance Day on Wednesday November 11 and raise money for Poppy Scotland.
Students from the Workstart and Lifestart courses, plus School Link courses in Alloa and Falkirk and backed by some ACE and Pathfinders learners, have been painting poppy’s on stones – and some may be adding initials of friends and relatives who have served in the forces - and displaying them near all three campuses to mark Remembrance Day.
They are hoping fellow students and staff will make a donation online here.
Jackie Innes, FVC’s Operations Manager for the Department of Business and Communities said: “Having initially seen the idea for Poppy Stones on Facebook, I thought it would be a great idea for our students to get involved within their Art/Enterprise classes.
“Due to the current Covid pandemic, Poppy Scotland are unable to sell and collect donations on the same scale as they have in previous years, hopefully with our students getting involved in this way, our displays on each campus will encourage staff and students to make a small donation for a very worthwhile cause.
“I would like to thank all students and staff that have been involved, I have been delighted with the engagement is this idea and really impressed by the creativity and talent our students and staff have shown.”
