Sound Production Facilities

Lornshill Academy pupils paid a reciprocal visit to FVC’s Stirling Campus recently to check out the state-of-the-art sound production studios and facilities.

This followed a visit to the school in April where FVC Sound Production lecturer Barry Frame had visited the school to give them a talk on his specialised subject.

Barry said: “I gave them a tour of the campus with focus on the studios. The students were well impressed, as were their teachers. I decided to deliver a sound design lecture focussing on how we record ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement). We downloaded a scene from the 1995 film Dumb and Dumber and the pupils were more than keen to get into the studio and replace Jim Carrey’s voice with their own. The results were excellent, and pupils had a great time and got a lot out of lecture. FVC student Greg Breen, who has just finished his HND in Sound Production, also accompanied me and gave pupils an insight into the College life and the course and also showed them some of his work.

“Lornshill Academy Music Tech Teacher Mrs Claire Bennet said that she was thrilled that she had contacted me, as she feels that a relationship between Forth Valley College and the schools is really important. I also agreed and let her know that I have been visiting multiple schools to raise awareness of what we do Here at the College. I told Claire that we would love to make this a regular thing, with me coming to Lornshill Academy for guest lecturers and vice versa.”
