Personal experience of the fantastic work Strathcarron Hospice does on a day-to-day basis, was the inspiration for a group of Administration students to raise £655 for the good cause.
At least two of the seven strong group – Gemma Strachan (30) from Cowie, Nadine Bee (25) from Larbert, Michelle Crawford (28) from Grangemouth, Carrie Marley (31) from Denny, Billy Martin (30) from Grangemouth, Lee-Ann Lindsay (31) from Falkirk, Shaun McManus (31) from Falkirk – had visited grandparents at the Hospice regularly and it was decided that as part of the Events section of their NC course, they would put their efforts into fundraising.
The group organised a sponsored walk at Gartmore Dam in Sauchie on 4 October and a 100 mile relay cycle on an exercise bike in the Falkirk Campus on 21 October, to raise money and they also made good use of sponsor sheets, football cards, and buckets at reception when they were fundraising.
Michelle Crawford, said: “We all enjoyed it and we would definitely do it again in a heartbeat. We loved every minute of it and we even got some other students to do a few minutes of the cycle!”
