Winners, Certificates and VIPS

Modern Apprentices from Petroineos celebrated at an awards ceremony held at their Grangemouth premises on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 November.

Two awards were presented at the event and a number of apprenticeship completion certificates were handed out to MAs who have now served their time.

The Apprentice of the Year award was presented to Craig Hollis and the Apprentice Rising Star was awarded to Elliot Millar.

Ewan Crawford – Mechanical Apprentice, Aaron Wilson – Operations Apprentice, Gareth Struthers – Operations Apprentice, Olivia Stevenson – Operations Apprentice and Craig Hollis – Operations Apprentice, all received their MA completion certificates.

Craig Hollis (21) from Larbert, said: “I feel great to have won this award and did not expect it at all. Petroineos is a brilliant company to work for and the training I received at Forth Valley College has been a great introduction to what I do at work.”

Elliot Millar (19), from Grangemouth, said: “It was a surprise for me to win this award, but I feel really good about winning it. A Modern Apprenticeship definitely gives you a head start and I would recommend it to anyone.”

Russell Mann, Refinery Manager at Petroineos, said: “The Modern Apprenticeship programme is well sought after and highly regarded as a first class route into employment. Apprentices like Craig and Elliot benefit from working alongside and learning from highly experienced and knowledgeable employees and it shows in the calibre of applicants for both awards.

“The programme equips the apprentices with a range of skills and competencies that will enable them to fit straight into our organisation. I would like to congratulate Craig and Elliot on their achievements to date and to all the other Petroineos apprentices as they too work towards completing their qualifications.”

Kenny MacInnes, FVC’s Vice Principal Learning and Student Experience, said: “I was delighted to attend the Petroineos Awards Ceremony and help the MAs celebrate their success.

“Forth Valley College has enjoyed a close working relationship with Petroineos over many years delivering a bespoke MA programme and successfully training a high number of apprentices over the last six years.

“I congratulate each and every one of them and wish them all the best as they look to their future. Everyone at Forth Valley College is very proud of their achievements.”
