Five Professional Cookery Level 3 students from Forth Valley College are helping to provide sustenance for COP 26 delegates as they try to save the word from climate change.

Connor Harness (16) from Falkirk, Jack Stewart (19) from Killearn, Brandon Newman (19) from Tullibody, Lewis Dowie (19) from Dunblane and Aaron McEwan (18) from Stirling, are covering a whole host of different tasks within the global event in Glasgow including: buffets, canapés, private dining and catering for the registered and invited guests.

They will be working alongside staff and students from different Scottish colleges and also being supervised by expert head chefs, which enables them to enjoy on the job training at the event. Work incentives are also in place on the shifts and COP26 have provided them all with travel cards to use the public transportation during the two week conference.

Karyn King, FVC’s Operations Manager in the Department of Creative Industries, Hospitality and Tourism, said: "Our Professional Cookery student have been given an unmissable opportunity to gain real life work experience, within a busy and high pressured setting.  Working at COP26, as part of a huge team and working with one of the biggest contract caterers in the business, Compass, will provide them with invaluable skills and enhance the learning that they are doing at College."
