A seven strong delegation from Forth Valley College travelled to Croatia recently for a conference on Innovation & Creativity in Education.

The Student Association team which included Student Association President Lorraine Simpson, Lynne McClelland, David Gentles Debbie Jackson and Alan Buchan were accompanied by FVC’s Student Services Manager Jean Duff and Student Liaison Officer Angela Muirhead at the event, held in Rijeka from 18-21 May.

The aim of the trip was to bring back ideas for the Student Association and to help enhance training and engagement methods for the FVC Creative Learning Group and develop ideas for Learning & Teaching within the College.

Lorraine, said:

“We attended various workshops, presentations and key note speeches, most of which were based around the theme of Creativity. The topics discussed were interesting and gave us a good insight into education in Croatia. We feel that FVC is definitely ahead of the trend with regards to Creative Learning and is already implementing a lot of the ideas discussed.

“But we were inspired by several ideas which are already being developed, and we hope to implement them during training sessions and workshops. We also met some great people along the way, which have hopefully created opportunities for further international links.”
