Forth Valley College and its partners in the FV University College NHS Partnership have been praised in the Scottish Parliament this week.
Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed raised a question of her peers in the chamber and asked for their assessment of the initiative which was launched in October 2022, and also asked the Scottish Government if they would recommend other health boards in Scotland to replicate the partnership model.
She said: “The partnership is an exemplar of cross-public-sector engagement among anchor institutions in Scotland.”
FVC, the University of Stirling and NHS Forth Valley launched the first formal regional partnership between a health board, university and college on Monday 3 October 2022 at the FVC Stirling Campus. It focusses on learning, career development, research and innovation and has the potential to drive forward research and innovation, improve health outcomes and improve attraction into health careers locally.
Michael Matheson, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, said: “I encourage other partners to consider it. I put on record my congratulations to the Forth Valley University College NHS partnership and the collaborative approach that it is taking to working together. As a Government, we encourage other local partners to look closely at the approach that has been taken in Forth Valley, as it provides an opportunity to drive innovation and support service delivery improvement.”
