A Fairtrade Quiz Night at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus attracted around 70 staff and students to raise awareness for the worthy cause during Fairtrade Fortnight.
Back by popular demand - after the success of last year’s quiz at the college’s Stirling Campus - the Fairtrade Quiz on Friday 10 March could registered 11 teams in the Falkirk Campus refectory on the night.
A team called 241 Optimistic Burgers comprising of staff members Edith Nicol, Chris Duff, Drew Bain and Lisa Baxter won the top prize of a trophy and Easter eggs.
Forming part of the College’s Fairtrade Fortnight (Monday 27 February – Sunday 12 March) the quiz took place between 6-9pm with prizes awarded and raffles drawn, as well as a Fairtrade buffet (produced by FVC’s Hospitality staff and students) and a glass of Fairtrade wine or fruit juice.
Lisa Hachemi, International Support Co-ordinator and also the coordinator of the College’s Fair Trade Committee, said:
“This was a great event and it was very well attended. The quiz master was superb and the Hospitality Department’s students and staff prepared a lovely Fairtrade buffet.
“It was once again a great way to raise awareness for such a worthy cause and as Forth Valley College was Scotland’s first to be awarded Fairtrade Status back in March 2011, we are proud to be able to support Fairtrade Fortnight every year and promote Fairtrade throughout the year.”
