Scotland’s Parliament was the venue for a reception hosted by Colleges Scotland recently, with Forth Valley College Events students providing the hospitality service.

FVC Principal Kenny MacInnes (pictured here with the students) was among the invited guests at the event held on the evening of Tuesday 26 September, as 14 first year HND Events Management students served food and drinks to  more than 150 guests.

Lecturer Chris Foote, who accompanied the students on the night, said: “The students’ role was to assist with the Colleges Scotland’s annual parliamentary reception that showcased the college sector. The event provided opportunities for MSPs to engage with staff and students from colleges across the country and learn more about how colleges are supporting economic recovery.

“The reception was held in the main Garden Lobby of the parliament with over 150 guests in attendance. We had excellent feedback from the organisers and overall, the event was highly beneficial for the students to gain hands-on experience working within a live events environment.”

Paul Cunningham, Curriculum Manager in the Department of Creative Industries, Digital and Leisure Industries, said: “We were delighted to be asked to support Colleges Scotland’s Parliamentary Reception 2023, for the second year running.  Our HND Event Management students enjoyed the experience of co-ordinating and serving a range of canapés/beverages to a high profile guest list, at the landmark venue in Edinburgh. We hope to continue this strong relationship in the future, providing our learners with exciting opportunities to participate in similar events.”
