Big screen idols of the past and present descended on Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus recently to celebrate the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.
More than 40 Access and Progression students - led by 19 English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for Employability – organised the ‘Day in Hollywood’ event to mark the end of section of their course on Wednesday 14 March in the Main Hall.
ESOL and HNC Working With Communities students dressed up as movie stars and characters, enjoyed a special quiz, film and music all associated with the Hollywood film industry – and attracted several sponsors to help with prizes, food and decorations.
Head of Access and Progression Jaqueline McArthur and Curriculum Manager Scott Harrison were just two of the VIPs invited to tread the red carpet to the event.
Lynne Frail, a Lecturer and Additional Support Worker in the Department of Access and Progression, said: “They have all done a great job in organising this event and I am so proud of them. They all put a lot of hard work into their costumes and organising the event and getting sponsors on-board. It has been a great success.”
Sponsors who supported the event included: Morrisons, Joanna @ Pantry Polish Delicatessen, Family Cakery Delicatessen, Magyar Bolt Glasgow, J & T Sons, Georges Carpets, RSF Transport, Anna’s Polish Market, Next Homestore, Cineworld, Carrongrange.
All money raised on the day will go to the Quarriers charity in Falkirk.
