A former Forth Valley College Art and Design student has come full circle by returning to the Stirling Campus on a lecturing work placement.

Mia McGregor (31) from Doune is currently studying for her Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) at the University of Stirling and is carrying out her work placement period at Forth Valley College just a year after graduating with a BA Art and Design.

Mia, said: “I am delighted to come back and do my work placement at the college. I have a lot of happy memories here and it is great to learn how to become a lecturer here and pass on my knowledge to new students.”

Talented artist Mia, created the Cube Project  www.cubeproject.co.uk art installation which was borne out of her experience of marginalisation. It travels all around the world and was exhibited at Made in Stirling in the city’s King Street, which was visited by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on 30 October, with the First Minister adding her own message to the artwork.

Mum of three Mia, said: “Studying came at the right time for me. The experience of studying has opened up new opportunities and the Cube, which I am extremely passionate about, would not be here if I hadn’t studied at Forth Valley College.

“I would say the lecturers are amazing and that they have supported and challenged my ideas and helped me refine and develop them to be able to run myself as a working artist.

“I would definitely recommend the college to other people and do all the time. I have supported some young people with applications and portfolios to apply to FVC already.”
