College again announced as awards finalists
Training Provider of the Year

Forth Valley College have once again been announced as finalists at the prestigious Engineering Construction Industry Training and Development Awards 2021 the second time in two years.

And once again the College has been announced as a finalist in the Approved Training Provider (ATP) of the Year category, in the awards which this year will be held on Wednesday 2 November at the Illuminate @ The Science Museum, South Kensington in London.

FVC’s award submission relates to their expansion of its ECITB Portfolio over the past year, which saw it deliver the first scholarship programme to be run in Scotland. The programme was developed in response to COVID to ensure the Engineering Construction Industry (ECI) new entrant pipeline was sustained to prevent further shrinkage of the skills pool.

There were 12 scholars in the group who undertook their HNC Engineering Systems and Performing Engineering Operations 2 along with ECITB’s Digital Safety Passport.

FVC also organised Industry visits, employer workshops and project based work to enhance the learners’ experience. The programme was extremely successful with 11 of the 12 scholars securing apprenticeship offers with global employers such as Bilfinger UK Ltd and Trillium Flow Technologies.

The Scholarship Programme aimed to remove the financial burden of having to employ a learner, by allowing them to undertake some of the necessary components of an apprenticeship off the job in an approved centre without having to register an actual Apprenticeship.

Mhairi Hay, Director of Curriculum for FVC’s Department of STEM and Construction, said: “We are once again absolutely delighted to be nominated as finalists in the ECITB’s annual awards. This is great recognition of our expanded ECITB portfolio

over the last 12 months, and whether we win the top prize or not, just to be nominated is great recognition of all the hard work my colleagues have put in to build a stronger and better relationship with ECITB.”
