ACE Painting and Decorating students have answered the Christmas call to transform a toy wooden house into a pretend fire station for a nursery school.
Alarm bells started ringing when Foundation Apprentice Construction students found they had leftover wood from building their quota of toy houses. They were then encouraged to build another one, which the Painting and Decorating ACE course students transformed into a special play fire station – which will be donated to Hillwood Primary and Nursery in Ratho.

Painting and Decorating Lecturer Michael Denzey, said: “The FA construction school kids build these every year and each tiny house has a nursery assigned to it. Last year we had some students who dropped out meaning we had some spare timber. As we did not want to waste it, we built another house – which my ACE students have painted and turned into a fire station - meaning another nursery would benefit from it.
“I delivered the station on Thursday 21 of December just in time for Christmas.
“I spoke to a member of staff last year and they mentioned that they did not have much in the garden for the kids to play with. So our ‘elves’ have been painting fiercely for the last few weeks to make sure we could give them something special from Forth Valley College for Christmas.”
