2024 FVSA Student Awards winners announced

Award winners were announced on Thursday 23 May as Forth Valley Student Association (FVSA) celebrated achievements and success across the College.

The Student Awards ceremony was held at the Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus from 6-8pm, where a buffet was served to the attending guests. FVSA’s Student Vice President, Kirsten Kennedy took centre stage to present the awards and FVC Vice Principal Sarah Higgins was also in attendance.

Representatives from five of the event sponsors: Onefile, SP Energy Networks, The Talking Rooms, Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce and Investors In People, as well as FVSA Executive Officers and in-coming Student President Elena Strachan were also special guests on the night.

Current students from HND Sound Production (Daniel Easty and Matthew McInnes), HND Hospitality Management (Craig Thomson) and HND Events Management (Tegan Cook, Eilidh Dunning, Joanne Messner and Anastasiia Isakova) courses were on hand to make sure the awards evening went as it should, and popular Delta Blues musician Iain Donald (also a Graphic Design student) played a four song set at the interval. Alloa Bowmar piper Donald Erskine started the evening off by playing two songs.

All of the winners were presented with an engraved glass award and a certificate. The runners up in each category were also presented with a certificate.

Student of the Year, Claire Snodin (19) a HND Visual Communication students from Tillicoultry, said: “I am speechless. I was surprised to have been nominated at all, but am very proud to have won. Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”

Lisa Baxter, FVC’s Student Association & University Partnerships Manager, said: “Many congratulations to everyone who was nominated for this year’s Student Awards, and thanks to those who submitted nomination forms on their behalf. 

“FVSA was very grateful to receive support from event sponsors Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce, Investors In People, OneFile, SP Energy Networks, and The Talking Rooms. Representatives from our sponsors were in attendance, and helped to hand out prizes to the winners.

“Thanks also to members of the Student Awards Panel, Marketing, Facilities, Reception, Cleaning and Hospitality teams, FVSA Executive Officers and student volunteers – and their lecturers - who supported with the event, and to all students who voted for nominees in the staff award categories!”
