Project SEARCH – The Stirling Highland Hotel

Project SEARCH is a transition to work programme for people aged 16 to 24, with learning disabilities and or Autistic Spectrum conditions. It effectively takes the classroom into the hotel and teaches interns employability skills on-site, in a real workplace environment.

The programme helps interns to learn real job skills that will prepare them for work by rotating them through a variety of different work placement experiences. This work-based learning is then supported by classroom activities each day, as well as regular discussion and feedback from supervisors throughout the programme.

All learners will receive individual guidance and support from college staff, partner organisations and parent/carer meetings, to help them make decisions about their future.

• Aged between 16 and 24 years old
• Have a learning disability
• Resident in the Stirling Council area
• Not currently participating in other publicly funded provision
• Able to participate in work-based learning at SCQF Level 3
• Be able to travel independently
• Have good timekeeping and attendance
• Be able to work well with others
• Ability to progress to work within 12 months
• Be available to attend Project SEARCH Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm
• Be interested and motivated to gain employment.
• Applicant must have proof of the right to work in the UK

• Before starting the application process, please ensure you already hold or are working towards the relevant entry qualifications required for the course you are applying for

• Please include as much detail as possible in your personal statement such as; the reason you are applying, future career plans, previous employment, relevant experience, hobbies and interests
• Disclosing support needs in your application will not affect your chances of being offered a place on a course at Forth Valley College
• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
• Applicants who provide a mobile phone number on their application form will be sent a text reminder prior to the day of interview
