Access to Engineering

This course provides students with experience of a broad range of different types of engineering and the core skills to progress on to National Qualifications. It aims to give individuals greater confidence in their own abilities and fully inform them about a career in engineering.

  • Turning/Milling
  • Thermal Joining Skills (Welding)
  • Health and Safety
  • Engineering Drawing
  • Engineering Maths/Numeracy
  • Communication
  • Information Technology
  • Engineering Dimensional Control
  • Installation of Wiring Systems

  • Engineering Trainees
  • Engineering Apprenticeships

  • National Qualifications in Mechanical or Fabrication Welding Engineering related discipline

  • No formal entry requirements

Additional requirements:

  • Select will be by a two stage interview / selection centre process
  • The selection centre stage will consist of an interview, maths test, written test and a practical skills test

• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
