NQ Computer Aided Design for Construction and Manufacture

This course is delivered at our Falkirk campus.

The course aims to provide a thorough insight and training into both the practical and theoretical skills required to work and operate within a range of Construction and Manufacturing design disciplines with Computer Aided Design (CAD) at its core.

Students will learn about CAD roles within a draughting and design office and how CAD skills can lead to careers in Design Engineering and Construction e.g. CAD Technician for Civil Engineering and Architectural projects.

Technology plays a very large part in the Construction and Engineering industries and the course will introduce students to technology used within a workshop and construction site setting.

The final section of this course will prepare candidates for all aspects of the use, specification and reasoning for new and sustainable technologies.

  • Building Information Model (BIM) manager
  • Facilities Manager
  • Energy Assessor
  • Building Maintenance Manager

  • HNC/HND Architectural Technology with Digital Construction 
  • HNC/HND Civil Engineering
  • HNC/HND Construction Management
  • HNC/HND Computer Aided Daughting and Design  

  • National 5 award in Maths is desirable (or equivalent such as the application of Maths at National 5), English, and a technical or science subject
  • Successful completion of a relevant access course or an appropriate group of National Qualification Units
  • Applicants who do not meet these criteria may be considered on the basis of relevant industrial experience within the industry
