NC Creative Industries: Art & Design

This is a foundation, entry level,  SCQF Level 6 Art & Design course that introduces students to a broad range of art and design subjects and helps to build the skills necessary for further study

NC Creative Industries: Art & Design is an entry level course designed to ignite your passion for art and design while equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to get started in the dynamic world of the creative industries. The course will take you on a journey through exciting projects within a range of Art & Design Disciplines.

Emphasis will be placed on building creative skills across a range of projects with basic research and critical skills embedded.

Successful candidates can continue to develop specialist skills in a range of art and design based HND courses.

  • Drawing and Printmaking Project 
  • Textiles and Surface Project 
  • 3D Project 
  • Mixed Media and Surface Project 

  • This course is a pathway to further study

  • HND in an Art & Design 
  • Year one of BA Art & Design
  • Art & Design Portfolio Preparation

One of the following:

  • Four National 4 awards (or equivalent) including Art and English
  • Successful completion of the Access to Creative Industries course
  • Successful completion of the NC Creative Industries
  • Applicants who do not meet these criteria but have relevant experience or alternative qualifications, will be considered

    Please note that entry to this course is always subject to the applicant producing a portfolio of artwork of a suitable level

• Please ensure you have an online account before starting your application
• If you created your account prior to September 2016, you will need to register a new account
• Before starting the application process, please ensure you already hold or are working towards the relevant entry qualifications required for the course you are applying for
• Ensure you use your own personal email address when creating your online account
• Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an automated email immediately
• If you do not receive an acknowledgement e-mail immediately, please check your SPAM/Junk folder
• Please include as much detail as possible in your personal statement such as: the reason you are applying, future career plans, previous employment, relevant experience, hobbies and interests
• Disclosing support needs in your application will not affect your chances of being offered a place on a course at Forth Valley College
• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
• Applicants who provide a mobile phone number on their application form will be sent a text reminder prior to the day of interview
