  • HND Mechanical Engineering

    This advanced course provides students with a wide range of knowledge and skills required for mechanical engineering relevant to mechanical, manufacture, process, oil and gas and alternative energy industries.

    The objective of the programme is to provide a broad understanding of mechanical engineering technologies.

    In addition, it develops organisational skills including project planning, maintenance strategies, methods of design analysis, leadership and interpersonal skills.

    Students successfully completing this programme may have the opportunity to progress to a BEng or MEng at various Universities.

  • Modern Apprenticeship - Engineering

    Closing date for applications Friday 8 March 2024

    A Modern Apprenticeship (MA) is a qualification candidates gain whilst in full-time employment.

    It consists of a Scottish Vocational Qualification, (SVQ), Core skills (Communication, Numeracy, Problem Solving, Working with Others, ICT) and either an NC, HNC or HND or combination of these.

    MAs are a combination of practical work based qualifications which are carried out in the workplace alongwith time spent in College in either a full-time, block or day release basis depending on the discipline chosen. Forth Valley College has excellent workshops and facilities including high specification laboratories, training rigs and state-of-the-art technology.

  • NC Electrical Engineering

    This course is designed for the study of electrical and electronic engineering and enables progression to higher levels of study.

  • NC Mechanical Engineering

    This course provides an excellent foundation in Mechanical Engineeringat SCQF Level 6.

    Attaining this award allows students to progress to Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma level courses.

  • Newstart - Construction and Engineering

    This 19-week course is aimed at learners who want to experience a range of academic and vocational subjects whilst simultaneously improving their core skills. Learners will also attend workshops which will facilitate personal development.

    Personal learning plans provide support to learners when applying for future courses.

    Core Skills sessions are a compulsory element of the course which is aimed at SCQF - Level 4/5 and based at the Falkirk Campus.

    The construction and engineering path is for learners who are interested in vocational work in workshops and pursuing further study or apprenticeships as a joiner, painter, welder, bricklayer or engineer.

    Students on this course will have the opportunity to complete SQA units.
