George Chamberlain (17) from Chichester is a Mechanical Engineering Modern Apprentice working with FieldCore part of the worldwide GE Vernova company.
He said: “My employers work on world class gas power systems and I work as a Mechanical Fitter apprentice.
“I have found the apprenticeship programme to be very enjoyable and exciting due
to the skills we learn, as well as the knowledge I have gained from it. It has helped me acquire new skills as well as improve existing ones and provided me with a better insight on what to expect from my career in the future.
“The facilities at Forth Valley College are excellent and have all the equipment and utilities required for a good learning experience. Furthermore I think most lecturers are great at delivering the knowledge I am required to understand, and have been a big help towards my career.
“I would recommend the Modern Apprenticeship programme due to the excellent facilities provided for a thorough learning experience, in relation to practical work.
I would also recommend it for its amazing lecturers who provide their full attention to making sure students are getting the knowledge and understanding they need for their subjects. Personally the best part of the course so far for me has been the practical work in the workshops, as I get to be hands on with the work I am carrying out.
“The best bit of advice I could give to a new Modern Apprentice would be to not be afraid to ask your lecturers questions on information you do not understand, as they are always there to help.”
