Alexandra Kellnerova (38) from Bo’ness began studying at Forth Valley College to improve her language skills, now a full five successfully completed courses later - including two HNDs - she is moving into the jobs market.
She has just completed a HND Make-up Artistry and she has found a passion for hair styling, but she started studying back in 2015 on the SCQF Level 4: English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) course before moving on to a Higher National Diploma: Travel and Tourism in 2018 and then SVQ Level 3: Hairdressing was next in 2020…and she leaves FVC highly qualified and ready for the next step on her career journey.
Alexandra, said: “I have been a student at the College for a while now, but my life has changed completely since I start studying. My English is definitely much better. I am not afraid to speak anymore, as I was always worried about my accent and that I am not going to understand. It is so much easier to phone the doctor, bank, insurance companies etc. I have also found some amazing friends here, and like I said, I have started going to the gym and trying to eat healthier.
“I found the facilities very good. I just started using the gym recently, and they have very helpful staff. I should have definitely started doing that years ago too. I think I was just always afraid to go to the gym on my own, but not anymore. The library has always been great for studying and I also like just sitting in the canteen with great food and a cup of coffee. All my lecturers have always been nice and very helpful, and I will miss them all when I leave.
“Everyone has always been nice and helpful and it also helps financially, though I am not sure what I am going to do once I leave. I wish there was another course for me, so I can attend and stay at College few more years lol.
“I would recommend Forth Valley College as I think it is an amazing place for studying with very nice and helpful people. I have a few friends that applied for courses at the College after I recommend it. Everything has been amazing, but the best bit has probably been my Hairdressing course, where I found my passion hair styling… though I do really love the gym too.
“I love everything about the College. It has made my life so much easier. I found my passion in the Hair and Make-up industry and have also started working out in the gym and eating healthy. I will definitely will miss College.”
