Information for Teachers

Foundation Apprenticeships are new qualifications developed by Skills Development Scotland (SDS).

Pupils will be able to pick a Foundation Apprenticeship as one of their subject choices. We will work closely with your school to ensure this coordinates with pupils’ timetables and does not affect their other commitments.
Pupils can choose from 10 subject choices, most of which need to be completed over two years starting in S5. However, there are now some options available for pupils to complete a Foundation Apprenticeship over one year in either S5 or S6.

Entry requirements vary for each subject area, but pupils should probably be working towards achieving one or two Highers over S5 and S6, and your school will need to confirm this.

If you know of any pupils who would benefit from a Foundation Apprenticeship, please find out more below or get in touch today!
