A Foundation Apprenticeship is an excellent way for your son or daughter to kick start their career, and with ten subject choices available, there is something to suit everyone!
These new qualifications are aimed at young people still attending school and take either one or two years to complete, usually starting in S5. They are delivered locally, at a college campus or secondary school. Blending academic learning, with hands-on practical skills and work experience, a Foundation Apprenticeship will help pupils stand out from the crowd, enhancing their CV and allow them to make more informed choices for their future.

Foundation Apprenticeship Facts
- SCQF Level 6
- Equivalent to a Higher
- 1 & 2 year options available
- 10 subject areas for pupils to choose from
- Aimed at pupils who will probably be working towards two highers
- Combines college study with work experience
- Pupils will be assessed through a range of practical tasks
- Pupils travel to college and work placements will be paid for
- Pupils can apply regardless of which local authority their school is in
