FVC to support Falkirk Trail Race with snacks
Snacks for runners on Trail run

Runners in this year’s Falkirk 10k Trail Race will receive sustenance at the event from Forth Valley College’s Hospitality Department.

Fruit, cakes, snacks and cups will be provided by the College department to help support race organiser – and FVC EPOS Coordinator Robert Myler – provide the best possible experience for those who enter the charity event on Sunday 24 March at Callander Park.

Robert, along with FVC Active Travel Coordinator and Forth Valley Student Association President Steve Kemlo, recently started a College Running Club on a Wednesday from 4pm to help students and staff get fit, but also encourage them to enter the Falkirk 10K Trail Race.

A number have already signed up, but there are still some places left. Students and staff will get a reduced entry fee and will only pay £12 to enter. Signup must go through the Falkirk 10k Trail Race Teams page. This event is a fun race but will also have a serious racing environment and is supported under The Scottish Athletics Licence. At least 250 people will be taking part.

Robert, said: “I can’t thank the FVC Hospitality department and all my colleagues enough for their kind gesture and support. These snacks will be very welcome to everyone taking part on the day.

“Together with Raymond Evenden who works with our Estates Team at our Stirling Campus, I already organise the annual Falkirk eight hr Ultra Trail Race in Callander Park which has been running for the last seven years. It sells out each year with around 400 athletes taking part. This year one of the events companies who organised a 10k trail race and the Falkirk Half marathon went bust.

“As I am a keen sportsman and find that exercise is really good for your health and mental wellbeing, and to make sure it went ahead, I decided to take both of them under my wing and at the same time make entering a run event affordable. This event is only £20 with £2 from each athlete going to a local charity.

“We have about three weeks before the event takes place, so if anyone wants to come along to the FVC Running Club on a Wednesday at 4pm, they can find out more about how to enter and get themselves fit in the process.”
