HND Make-up Artistry students from Forth Valley College put their talents to good use once again recently (photos in carousel below), by supporting the Alloa Musical Players with their production of Sister Act.
Second years, Caitlyn Brown, Amy Gorman, Leila Bryce and Steevi Bell all from Falkirk and Emily Vevers from Denny and Martyna Bacik from Alloa, will be joined by first years Kat Watmore, Khayla Bell, Ellie Berry, Katie Laird (all Falkirk), Danielle Grahan and Toni Fox from Alloa, Dunia Al Shami and Viskante Gelumbeckaite from Granegemouth and Jiovel Ferguson from Denny, and all played a big part in the Players’ production, by making up all the performers for the show – which ran from Wednesday 13 -16 March in the Alloa Town Hall.
Photos of them in action before one of the shows can be seen in the carousel below.
This is the second time in three months that the group have been called upon to help with a stage show as Comrie Amateur Dramatic Society asked them to step in and help with their production of Cinderella at the White Church in Comrie from Monday 27 November to Saturday 2 December.
Rob McDermott, FVC’s Head of Learning and Quality as well as the President of the Alloa Players, said: “Yet again Forth Valley College students and staff have come to our aid by working with us to ensure that our show will be as much a spectacle and night’s entertainment as always. It’s been great to get the students involved, combining College learning and work based experience in their own community. This experience will add to their experience allowing them to progress on to employment or further study.”
FVC Make-Up Artistry Lecturer Tracey Coupland, said: “The students are building up a good reputation for providing professional make-up services to amateur dramatic groups, and it is very well deserved. Allowing the students to participate in an actual production will help them to gain the valuable experience and working on this production will hopefully open up further exciting opportunities in the future for our students. I’m a very proud lecturer indeed!”
