SfW (Nat 5) Early Education & Childcare (SCHOOLS)

***PLEASE NOTE - only pupils who will be at school during session 2024/25 can apply for this course***

This course can help you begin to prepare for working in the early education and childcare sector by developing employability skills. It will give you basic knowledge about how children develop. You will also help you to begin to understand some of the demands and responsibilities associated with working in this sector.

Attendance:

Alloa/ Falkirk: Tuesday and Thursday (afernoons)

Stirling: Friday (all day)

This course is made up of 4 units:

Mandatory Units:

  • Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People
  • Play in Early Education and Childcare
  • Working in Early Education and Childcare

Optional Units:

  • Contemporary Families

This course could lead to the following careers:

  • Early Education Worker
  • Teacher
  • Au - pair
  • Social Care Assistant working with families and children
  • Child Minder
  • Child Care worker on holiday resorts
  • Crèche Worker

  • NC Child, Health and Social Care - Early Years

Mandatory:

  • Participation in group information session
  • Pupils will probably be about to enter S4 and be working towards achieving at least three National 5 qualifications at C or above, preferably including English or equivalent
