NPA Business Skills

The National Progression Award in Business with Information Technology at SCQF level 6 is designed to provide you with the fundamental knowledge required for success in employment in the business and information technology sector or for progression onto further academic qualifications. 
 
You will attend college on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (1.45pm-4.30pm), studying a range of IT and Business related topics.  This course is ideal for those who are considering undertaking HND Business or HND Business with Information Technology next year.   
 
Please note that this course continues through periods of study leave from school, and you are expected to attend classes during this time (except exam days). 

The deadline for applications is Friday 19 April 2024 but early applications are encouraged.

This qualification will give you the chance to develop the skills and knowledge required to enter a career in many business sectors such as marketing, retail, finance, administration, IT, team leadership and human resources. 

  • HND Business or HND Business with Information Technology.  Successful completion of either of these HND qualifications will allow entry to year 3 of Business Management degrees at our partner universities (subject to grades) 
  • Use the PDA alongside Highers to apply to university 

Suitable for both S5 and S6 pupils who have achieved or will have achieved at least 3 National 5 awards at grade C and above, preferably including English, by the end of S5.  Not suitable for those who have already undertaken Higher Business Management or are planning to do so in the same academic year.

• Please include as much detail as possible in your personal statement such as; the reason you are applying, future career plans, relevant experience, hobbies and interests
• Disclosing support needs in your application will not affect your chances of being offered a place on a course at Forth Valley College
• If your application is successful, you will be invited to an information session
• If your application is unsuccessful, you should speak to a guidance teacher or SDS school liaison officer.
