NEBOSH General Certificate
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a globally recognised health and safety qualification held by more than 175,000 people in the UK and worldwide.
This course is eligible for ITA funding. If you wish to use ITA funding towards the cost of this course, you must first apply for the ITA funding through the My World of Work website. Once you’ve applied for funding, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to book your course.
Please note ITA funding for this course should not be applied for until your place is secured.
Candidates will be required to register for the full course. The course will be broken down into 3 modules plus 2 revision days with an exam at the end of the training block.

2. Health and safety management systems – plan
3. Health and safety management systems – do
4. Health and safety management systems – check
5. Health and safety management systems – act
Unit GC2: Controlling workplace hazards
1. Workplace hazards and risk control
2. Transport hazards and risk control
3. Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control
4. Work equipment hazards and risk control
5. Electrical safety
6. Fire safety
7. Chemical and biological health hazards and risk control
8. Physical and psychological health hazards and risk control
Unit GC3: Health and safety practical application
Holders of NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH - www.iosh.co.uk) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM - www.iirsm.org).
On successful completion candidates may progress to the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
There are no specific entry requirements to undertake the NEBOSH National General Certificate programme. However, it should be noted that currently the assessments are offered, and must be answered, in English only. The qualification includes a requirement to write a short report based on the candidate's own workplace, which must also be in English. Candidates should discuss this with the accredited course provider before undertaking the qualification.
