Data Protection Complaints

If you are unhappy with how Forth Valley College has collected, used, shared, stored or otherwise handled your personal information, you have the right to make a data protection complaint.

Examples may include concerns about:

  • The handling of a Subject Access Request (SAR)
  • The accuracy of personal information we hold about you
  • How your personal data has been collected, used or shared
  • The security of your personal information
  • Retention or deletion of personal information
  • Any other matter relating to the College's compliance with UK data protection legislation

What Happens Next?

The College will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of your complaint
  • Investigate your concerns and make any necessary enquiries
  • Keep you informed of progress where appropriate
  • Provide a response and explain the outcome of our investigation without undue delay and within 30 calendar days at most
  • Inform you of any further rights available to you

If You Remain Dissatisfied

We hope to resolve all data protection concerns directly. However, if you remain dissatisfied after receiving our response, or if you believe we have not handled your complaint appropriately, you may raise your concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent authority for data protection.
