Forth Valley College’s Skills Transition Centre (STC) featured at this year’s Learning Places Scotland conference, highlighting how the project aims to widen access to digital learning across Forth Valley communities.
Laura Fraser, STC Project Manager, represented the College at the event at Glasgow’s SEC on Tuesday 3 November, speaking in a session titled ‘Social Exclusion versus Digital Inclusion’.
The presentation explored the STC’s inclusive approach to digitally enabled STEM learning, from early years and primary school through to further education and the workplace. It highlighted the College’s role in bringing together learners, communities, lecturers, technology providers and industry partners to help people develop skills for a changing world.
Chaired by Sarah Jane Linton, Chief Academic Officer at Fife College, the session also featured a presentation from Michael Conlon from XMA and Cameron Nicol, Digital Spaces Specialist from Fife College. Together, the contributions explored how technology can open up learning opportunities, while recognising the barriers that can prevent people from benefiting.
Laura said: “It was an honour to be invited to speak at the Learning Places Scotland conference and present our inclusive approach to digitally enabled STEM and construction learning. I look forward to strengthening our relationship with the conference organisers and ensuring that our college has a meaningful presence at future conferences.”
