A representative from Forth Valley College travelled to London recently for the second Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA) Scotland London Africa Week.

Jamie Allan, Global Partnership Manager, represented FVC to share and promote the expertise and services of the College that could be available to global partners. This included attending events at the Department for Business and Trade, the Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce, Dover House (home of the UK Government’s Scotland Office), the Ethiopian Embassy, and Marlborough House (home of the Commonwealth).

This event, from Tuesday 25 -Thursday 27 November, offered a dynamic and enriching experience for all participants. Throughout the week, delegates had the unique opportunity to engage with African ambassadors, high commissioners, UK politicians, trade associations, partner organisations and key industry leaders.

The packed itinerary was designed to maximise time and provide numerous opportunities for meetings, briefings, influencing, networking and doing business across all sectors in international trade. Organisers were confident that the event will not only broaden horizons but also pave the way for fruitful collaborations and business ventures.

Other highlights Included positive discussions with the Ethiopian Ambassador about supporting their TVET needs; discussions with the Scotland Office around representing FVC at UK Government events; trainer certification for a global energy company that was part of the delegation; and cementing the relationships with other country representatives such as the Kenyan High Commission Trade Attache, and with the Ivory Coast Ambassador where we are progressing an MOU with their Government.

Jamie Allan, said: “It was another fantastic Scotland London Africa Week organised by the Scottish Africa Business Association. Continuing to build FVC’s presence and reputation amongst high level government representatives from Africa and the UK, is key to displaying credibility and our commitment to working on the African continent, a key area of focus for our College. By engaging in exclusive meetings and workshops and learning about their challenges, we become first to present our leading credentials and seize the opportunities to collaborate and support countries with their education needs. I look forward to following up on the many fruitful discussions had.”
