A Polmont based GP practice has chosen a Forth Valley College student’s design to be their new promotional logo.
First year HND Visual Communication student Jenna Woolley (18) from Tullibody, had her logo chosen from several pitches made by a group of her fellow graphic design classmates – after Braesview Medical Group set them a live brief task to come up with a dynamic new branding.
Connor Harley, Practice Manager at Braesview Medical Group, said: “I began as the new Practice Manager in March 2026, and it was suggested by one of the GP partners that we consider rebranding the practice to reflect a fresh start in our journey of supporting the local community. While we initially explored commissioning a professional design company, we felt it was important to recognise our role within the community and involve local people in shaping our identity.
“We saw this as a valuable opportunity for engagement and to give something back, so we approached Forth Valley College to explore whether any students might be interested in taking this on as part of their coursework or a live project. Following discussions with Lecturer Kirsteen Wright, the idea developed into running a structured competition, giving students the chance to respond to a real-world brief.
“The students were provided with an outline of our vision, alongside some guidance on the direction we hoped to take. However, they were also given creative freedom, and we were open to a wide range of ideas and interpretations. The quality of submissions was incredibly high, and it was clear a great deal of thought and effort had gone into each design.
“Our GP partners and I spent considerable time reviewing and discussing all of the entries. Selecting a final design was not an easy task, given the standard of work. Ultimately, Jenna was chosen as the winner of the £175 prize, and we then worked closely with her to refine the design into the final version, which we are absolutely delighted with.
“The whole process was extremely positive. It was fantastic to see the students present and pitch their ideas with such confidence and creativity. Each design brought something unique, which made the final decision a real challenge. Jenna’s concept stood out as the best fit for our brand, capturing both professionalism and a strong sense of community. Working with her to refine the final logo has been a great experience, and we are very proud to adopt a design that has been created locally and reflects the people we serve.”
Jenna Woolley, said: “Knowing my design will be used by Braesview Medical Group makes me feel very happy and accomplished. I was delighted to find out my design had been chosen and it’s so exciting to know it will be used for professional branding. This was also my first professional design project outwith college so I’m very grateful to have had this experience and to see what it’s like to work with a client.
“I think it’s very important for design students to be given opportunities such as this in order to build their confidence and develop their skills in client communication, timekeeping, organisation and design and design software.
“Many of my classmates were also interested in this opportunity and created various excellent designs, it’s always great to see what other people come up with and to give and receive feedback to help each other develop as designers.
“With help from classmates and my lecturers, I was able to create and finalise the logo. I’m very proud of this design and can’t wait to see it used, thank you to all involved for making this possible!”
Lecturer Kirsteen Wright, said: “Connor from Braesview Medical Group approached the College to make a new logo which would communicate trust, professionalism, compassion and community. Not an easy task!
“A group of students from the HND Visual Communication course rose to the challenge, outside of their course work, to provide a set of sketches with concepts for the medical practice to consider.
“The partners at the practice were blown away by the standard and incredible designs put forward so it was a tough decision. The design from Jenna was chosen which combines overlapping triangles to create a sense of togetherness, answering the brief with a slick, modern design.
“Projects such as this are incredible opportunities for our students to put their classroom learning into action in the real world and to start to build portfolios of clients. Well done Jenna and to all the other students that took the time to work on designs alongside college projects.”
