FVC expertise encourages sector to take part in SDG Teach In

Monday 2nd February 2026

An AI-powered tool developed by Forth Valley College to help teaching staff identify how their teaching links to Sustainable Development Goals, is helping others in the sector to take part in this year’s SDG Teach In.

Run by ‘Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK)’ since 2018, the SDG Teach In - SDG Teach In - SOS UK #SDGTeachIn is open to all educators, trainers, and workplace learning facilitators who work with all ages of learners in formal/informal education providers around the world.

They hope to do this by embedding the THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development into teaching across all disciplines.

Last year FVC’s Steven Ramage, Project Manager for the Campus Catalyst Project (pictured here at the Forth Valley Student Associations Welcome Week at the Alloa Campus on Monday 2 February), developed an AI tool that helps teaching staff to identify where the SDGs cross over with their teaching, lesson planning and assessments. FVC staff can access the AI tool here and it has also been made available to other colleges and universities.

The usefulness of the tool was recognised by the wider sector at the EAUC Conference in 2025. Now Borders College, who are also participating in the SDG Teach In, are encouraging their staff to use the tool to help them plan how they can take part through a series of workshops.

Rory Hill, FVC and Borders College’s shared Sustainability Project Manager said: “This is a phenomenal example of colleges working together to share best practice and benefit others. Each year there is a friendly competition between Borders College and Forth Valley College to get the most Teach In pledges, so it’s great to see collaboration between the Colleges helping staff to take part in the Teach In, showing even more of our students how their work contributes to a more sustainable world.”

How to Get Involved

Staff can contribute to the Global Teach In by:
