Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus held an exclusive morning showcase for employers in the construction industry today (Thursday 5 March) – supported by Paragon Housing Association and the Federation of Master Builders.
The event was very well attended and was designed to highlight the apprenticeships on offer at the College and how FVC can support employers’ current and future workforce needs.
Starting at 8.00 am with breakfast rolls and hot beverages, the showcase also provided an informal opportunity to network with college staff and fellow employers.
At 8.30 am, guests were welcomed with a short introduction from Dr Mhairi Hay, Director of STEM and Construction and Caroline Hogg, Head of Apprenticeships, followed by keynote speaker Pam Wilson, Chair President of the Federation of Master Builders.
The morning concluded with a guided tour of the Falkirk Campus, including a visit to the innovative Skills Transition Centre - https://www.forthvalley.ac.uk/about-us/skills-transition-centre - where employers saw first-hand the new technologies and facilities the College is investing in to support future-focused construction training.
This event was ideal for construction employers who wanted to: learn more about construction apprenticeship programmes; explore how apprenticeships can support business growth; and see the facilities and technology that will shape the workforce of the next generation.
Caroline Hogg, FVC’s Head of Apprenticeships, said: “This morning’s construction event at our Falkirk Campus was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the high-quality construction apprenticeships delivered by Forth Valley College. It was great to welcome new employers to our HQ and demonstrate the hands-on training we provide in brickwork, painting and decorating, carpentry and joinery, and plumbing, helping develop the next generation of skilled construction professionals.
“A big thanks goes to Director Margaret Torrance from Paragon Housing Association and Pam Wilson President of Federation of Master Builders, for their support for this event.”
