Tourism students from Forth Valley College enjoyed an exciting behind-the-scenes visit to Edinburgh Airport recently.
The group gained a unique insight into the day-to-day operations of a busy international airport and brought their classroom learning to life. With the help of airport staff they explored landside areas to accessing airside and the apron of the runway. The students were able to experience aspects of the airport that few members of the public get to see, alongside learning more about security screening processes.
Lecturer Tracy Alexander, said: “A highlight of the visit was the guided bus tour of the apron, where students saw first-hand the airport’s ongoing investment, including the development of new aircraft stands.
“This was a truly invaluable experience, giving students a real understanding of the aviation environment and inspiring their future careers.”
Fellow lecturer Caroline McConnachie, added: “We are especially proud that several of our second-year students will be starting full-time roles at Edinburgh Airport this summer, after completing their studies with us - an incredible achievement!
“So grateful to all the Edinburgh Airport staff who made this engaging, insightful and memorable visit possible.”
