A group of Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) Modern Apprentices who have spent the last two years studying at Forth Valley College, are setting off on the next stage of their careers.
The 12 apprentices work for a range of different employers including: the Wood Group, CB&I, Semco and PBS/Ponticelli, and have spent the last two years in college studying for the HNC and SVQ level 2 qualifications appropriate to Engineering Technicians.
They have just completed their offshore survival training and now leave FVC to head in to the workplace. Some will be placed offshore and some on onshore assets - these are to be confirmed – and they will spend the next two years studying for their SVQ level 3, before becoming time served Engineering Technicians.
Caroline Hogg, FVC’s Head of Apprenticeships, said: “As our second year apprentices prepare to take the next step in their journey, we want to take a moment to recognise everything they have achieved during their time at college.
“Over the past two years, they have not only dedicated themselves to learning and developing their skills, but they have also embraced the experience of living away from home—showing resilience, independence, and maturity along the way. The personal and professional growth we have seen has been remarkable.
“They have conducted themselves with professionalism and respect throughout, and they leave as a real credit to their employers, their peers, and the college community. Their attitude, commitment, and behaviour have set a strong example for others to follow.”
Fiona Speirs, FVC Apprenticeship Officer, said: “As they head out to complete the remainder of their apprenticeships, we wish them all the very best. Take forward the confidence, skills, and experiences you have built here - your future is full of opportunity. Good luck - you should be incredibly proud of how far you’ve come.”
