Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus was the venue for an important cross-sector workshop recently hosted by the PJ Foundation.
On Friday 7 August delegates from various organisations across the Central Region and beyond, gathered at the Campus to share knowledge, experience and to network, to help relieve the needs of children, young people and their families impacted during their time in hospital or recovery at home.
The workshop brought together partners with expertise from primary, secondary and tertiary education as well as health care professionals, government and third sector representatives and other experts who were enthusiastic in discussing how they could directly aid those who need it most.
Leanne Wilson, Director of Curriculum for the Department of Care, Sport, Business and Communities, said: “Forth Valley College were proud to host this cross-sector workshop, with the aim of encouraging conversations across the health, education, business and third sectors, and to explore new ways of raising awareness of the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation. We greatly value everyone’s time, creativity and enthusiasm, and the contribution they are making to this important conversation.”
Linda Blake, Interim Chairperson of the PJ Foundation, said: “We are grateful to Forth Valley College for hosting our first cross-sector workshop. It is exciting to bring organisations and young people together in the same space to talk openly about organ and tissue donation. By working alongside other organisations, we can help young people understand the incredible difference that ordinary people can make through a simple act of kindness - choosing to donate their organs and tissue and potentially giving someone else the gift of life.”
Elaine Campbell, Co-Founder and Trustee of the PJ Foundation, said: “Many of us are likely to know someone whose life has been impacted by an organ or tissue transplant, yet it can still be a difficult subject to talk about. The PJ Foundation is keen to find meaningful and engaging ways to involve young people in this important cause.”
