Adlib welcome FVC Sound Production students on educational visit

Tuesday 17th March 2026

Renowned event and venue technology firm - Adlib - welcomed students from Forth Valley College to their Glasgow base recently, giving them the opportunity to get hands-on with some of the latest audio and video systems, tour their warehouse, and take part in a Q&A session with staff.

During the visit, Warehouse Operative Joshua Lane walked the students through warehouse operations, audio-specific prep and de-prep procedures, and shared insights into potential career pathways in the industry.

Video Project Manager Nigel Kippax and Account Manager Scott Wallace guided the group through a range of video and audio systems, explaining how these integrate on-site at live events, with equipment on show from leading manufacturers including: Panasonic, Blackmagic, Apple, NEC, L-Acoustics, DiGiCo, Allen & Heath, Shure and Sennheiser.

Founder & Director Andy Dockerty also fielded a wide range of questions covering the live music industry and what a career pathway into it might look like.

Craig Hamilton, Adlib General Manager - Scotland, said: "It was a real pleasure having the Forth Valley College students with us. They were engaged, asked great questions, and clearly have a passion for the industry, exactly the kind of people we love to welcome through our doors. We hope the visit gave them a genuine feel for what a career in live events looks like from the inside, and we're very much looking forward to building on this relationship going forward."

FVC Sound Production Lecturer, Ian Fairclough, said: “My former tour manager and sound engineer for my band Terra Diablo - Craig Hamilton – is now General Manager at Adlib in Glasgow and he helped to organise this educational visit for our students.

“Adlib provide consultation through to design, installation and audio, lighting & video services and sound services for internationally renowned clients such as Sam Fender, YUNGBLUD Jimmy Carr and All Time Low both in the UK and internationally.

“The trip was a great success. The students were treated to a presentation and talk before splitting into two groups, being shown around the warehouse where they keep all the equipment, along with a demonstration on how the company preps PA and AV equipment for clients, while the other half got to try five different mixing desks the company typically use for live events. Following that the CEO gave a talk on how to get into the industry and what skills and attributes they look for when they take on new staff.

“I was really proud of how all the students handled themselves and the standard of questioning they provided during the Question and Answer section at the end.

“We are hoping now to take this further and develop partnerships in work experience and potential areas of employment for our sound production students. I know the team at Adlib are keen to host more events and partnerships like this, and it is a great opportunity for our students to build networks and gain valuable insights into the skills needed and routes available to them for future employment.”
