Potential New Students Flock To Open Evenings

Two open evening events promoting full-time courses and apprenticeship opportunities available at Forth Valley College, attracted potential new students recently.

Representatives from the College’s teaching departments and Business Development Team were on hand - at the Stirling Campus on Tuesday 12  November (4.30pm-7.30pm) and the Falkirk Campus on Thursday 14 November (4.30pm-7.30pm) -  to offer advice and guidance on the wide range of courses available including full-time courses, Partnership Degrees with Scotland’s leading universities, Modern Apprenticeships, Foundation Apprenticeships, evening courses, business training courses and flexible learning programmes.

In addition, support teams were also available to offer careers advice and answer questions on funding, learning support and applying to college. The Open Evenings also served as a great opportunity for potential students and their families to get a look around FVC’s fantastic buildings and meet the College teams face to face, so they could help them make an informed decision about which course is right for them.

AI welding and driving demonstration stations proved popular at the Falkirk Campus event and several companies also be hosted information stalls to provide information on Modern Apprenticeship opportunities available, these included: Alexander Dennis Limited, Applus UK Ltd, Babcock International Group, Diageo, ExxonMobil Chemical Ltd, Road Haulage Association, ScotRail, TechnipFMC, Trillium Flow Services UK Ltd and West Fraser.

Kenny MacInnes, Principal of Forth Valley College said: “Our open evenings offer a fantastic opportunity for people to come along and find out about the different options available to them – whether they’re interested in a mainstream course, finding out about Modern Apprenticeship vacancies currently on offer, thinking about studying for a Foundation Apprenticeship while still at school or pursuing a degree.

“These events are also really useful for people considering applying to college, but have questions surrounding student finance or the application process for example – and they’re also an excellent opportunity to find out what qualifications employers are looking for.”
