Forth Valley College Celebrates Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025 With Inspiring Success Stories From Our Talented Modern Apprentices

It’s already been a busy Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025 #ScotAppWeek25 and Forth Valley College have been supporting the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Campaign with online films, social media and related articles.

Here are just some of the testimonials we have collected from our MAs in recent weeks.

Alex Blyth (20) who works for RB Joinery and Building Services, recently successfully completed his MA, and his case study is now on the College website /case-studies/alex-blyth/

He said: “I would definitely recommend the College and the MA Programme at Forth Valley College and the best bit for me was the successes I achieved in my work and the realisation of the work I’m capable of. The whole experience was great and I met good people, and friends and the projects and lecturers were all great.

“My advice to anyone thinking about a modern apprenticeship at the College is to just go for it. For Joinery this place is perfect.”

Bill Harcomb (19) a first year Wood Machining MA who works for Alexander Sturrocks in Forfar, said: “At Forth Valley College the machines are high quality and there is plenty of space to work in, and the lecturers are always available to help. The MA programme trains me to control and use the machines and give me a great understanding of the safety regulations. The best bit for me has been learning how to make drawings and learning more about wood turning.”

Gregor Ross (18) a first year Wood Machining MA who works for Alexander Sturrocks in Forfar, said: “At Forth Valley College the facilities are excellent and the lecturers are very good at explaining everything in detail. The MA programme and the course has helped me use more machines at my workplace and made me more confident at setting them up myself. The best bit for me has been developing more skills.”

Bryan Bremner (52) who has been studying for a MA in Carpentry and Joinery MA and works for Edinmore, said: “With the qualification I have gained through the MA Programme at Forth Valley College. I will be able to advance further within my company. I would recommend the College and the MA Programme as the staff are friendly and helpful and they make settling in easy and they make their tutorials simple to follow. It’s a great way to kick start your career and meet new people.”
